Bronze<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Bronze has a somewhat elitist reputation and is associated to monuments. The objects shown here break with these conventions. “The Drinker” was created from jute soaked in wax. The resulting flexible material, alluding to arte povera, was spontaneously bent and cut to then be recreated in the valuable bronze. The form is figuratively somewhat based on Picasso’s Buveur d’Absinthe from the blue period.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Two works from the series “three reflections on peace” are illustrated: the “half-dove” and the “dove in three pieces”. Thematically, the dove is taken up as a symbol of peace and the question of the divisibility of peace is raised The objects provide an answer to the impossibility of breaking peace into parts. The casting mold for the wax model was created from a direct silicone impression of a taxidermied pigeon. The organic outer surface of the pigeon is in black patina with slight verdigris oxidation. The cut surfaces are in polished bronze and reveal the fragmentation of the material’s inner workings.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n
