Work in wood<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

In a chainsaw sculpture course at the Scuola di Scultura, the almost life-size wooden sculpture shown here was created.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The formal language is deliberately based on Cubism and Modernism of the 20th century interwar years. The sculpture makes use of period architectural elements. It depicts a standing woman. Horizontal and vertical grooves enhance the depth effect of individual structural parts. A contrast to the raw wood is created by white and black painted surfaces. In a borrowing from synthetic cubism, surfaces were covered collage-like with printed paper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The result is a work that explores the technical possibilities of working with chainsaws and opens up a spectrum of various perspectives for the viewer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
